Lisa Rau, Ph.D.
Lisa Rau co-founded Fíonta with Jeff Sullivan over 20 years ago and served as the organization’s CEO until April 2018. She currently serves as Fíonta’s chairman, and continues to provide strategic technology consulting to select nonprofit and association clients. Lisa is a well-known thought leader in the nonprofit technology field who is passionate about leveraging technology as a force for change. Earlier in her career, she was a National Science Foundation Visiting Scholar and then led Artificial Intelligence (AI) research at GE for eight years, publishing over 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals and conference proceedings in that time. Prior to founding Fíonta, Lisa was a senior executive at a commercial information technology services firm where she had profit and loss responsibility for IT services contracts of over $35M in annual revenue and managed a staff of 300+.
Lisa lives in Washington, DC with her husband of over 30 years, and loves to ride her bicycle, read, and travel all over the world. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, where she was assigned the email address email@example.com in the early years of the Internet, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Exeter.
